Applications

Being water-soluble, sodium dithionite is used as a reducing agent in some industrial dyeing processes. In the case of sulfur dyes and vat dyes, an otherwise water-insoluble dye can be reduced into a water-soluble alkali metal salt (e.g. indigo dye).

Sodium dithionite can also be used for water treatment, gas purification, cleaning, and stripping. It has also been applied as a sulfonating agent. In addition to the textile industry, this compound is used in industries concerned with leather, foods, polymers, photography, and many others, often as a decolourising agent. It is even used domestically as a decoloring agent for white laundry, when it has been accidentally stained by way of a dyed item slipping into the high temperature washing cycle. It is usually available in 5 gram sachets termed hydrosulfite after the antiquated name of the salt.

Application of Na2S2O4 Sodium Hydrosulfite SHS 

1. Widely used in textile industry for vat dyeing, reduction cleaning, printing and stripping, textile textile bleaching .

2. It is also used in bleaching paper pulps , especially mechanical pulps, it's the most fittable bleaching agent in pulps. 

3. It is used in bleaching kaolin clay, fur bleaching and reductive whitening, bleaching of bamboo products and straw products,

6. Sodium hydrosulfite food additive grade is used in foodstuffs, as bleaching agent and preservative dried fruits, dried vegetable, vermicelli, glucose, sugar, rock sugar, caramel, candy, liquid glucose, bamboo shoots, mushrooms and canned mushrooms.

USAGE

Sodium sulfonate is widely used in the textile industry for reducing dyeing, reducing cleaning, printing and decoloring, and for bleaching silk, wool, nylon and other fabrics. Because it does not contain heavy metals, the bleached fabric has bright color and is not easy to fade. In terms of various substances, sodium silicate can also be used for food bleaching, such as gelatin, sucrose, honey, etc., soap, animal (vegetable) oil, bamboo, porcelain clay, etc. Sodium hydroxid can also be used in organic synthesis, such as reducing agent or bleaching agent in the production of dyes and medicines.
