Product Description:

Membrane Cleaner ORG 77 is a specialized acidic membrane cleaner formulated for the effective removal of iron fouling, oxides, hydroxides, and light calcium carbonate deposits from reverse osmosis (RO), nanofiltration (NF), and ultrafiltration (UF) membranes. The product is based on a carefully balanced blend of organic acids, chelating agents, and proprietary buffer salts which maintain a stable pH of approximately 3.6 during use. This unique buffering action ensures consistent cleaning performance, preventing rapid pH drift and maintaining optimum efficiency throughout the cleaning cycle.

Iron fouling is one of the most common causes of reduced membrane performance, leading to decreased permeate flow, reduced salt rejection, and increased differential pressure. Membrane Cleaner ORG 77 penetrates and dissolves iron deposits effectively while dispersing loosened particles and preventing re-precipitation. In addition, its mild acid chemistry provides secondary action against light carbonate scale, making it a versatile cleaner for both iron-affected and lightly scaled systems.

The product is safe for polyamide thin-film composite membranes when used as directed, and is fully compatible with standard membrane cleaning protocols recommended by leading membrane manufacturers.

  • Desalination plants (SWRO and BWRO).
  • Power plants, boiler make-up, and cooling tower RO pretreatment units.
  • Food, beverage, and pharmaceutical water systems.
  • Municipal and industrial water treatment plants.
  • Any membrane system affected by iron fouling or light carbonate scaling.
Product Dose:
How to use Membrane Cleaner for most efficient RO membrane cleaning procedure
  • Prepare a 4% w/w solution in chlorine-free permeate water (1 kg ORG-77 per 25 kg water).
  • Circulate at ≤35 °C for 2–3 hours, depending on fouling severity.
  • Replace solution if it turns red/brown (indicating iron saturation).
  • After cleaning, flush system thoroughly with permeate until pH matches inlet water.
  • Neutralize spent solution with alkali before disposal.
