Tetrasodium pyrophosphate is used as a buffering agent, an emulsifier, a dispersing agent, and a thickening agent, and is often used as a food additive. Common foods containing tetrasodium pyrophosphate include chicken nuggets, marshmallows, pudding, crab meat, imitation crab, canned tuna, and soy-based meat alternatives and cat foods and cat treats where it is used as a palatability enhancer.

In toothpaste and dental floss, tetrasodium pyrophosphate acts as a tartar control agent, serving to remove calcium and magnesium from saliva and thus preventing them from being deposited on teeth. Tetrasodium pyrophosphate is used in commercial dental rinses before brushing to aid in plaque reduction.

Magnesium oxide (MgO), or magnesia, is a white hygroscopic solid mineral that occurs naturally as periclase and is a source of magnesium (see also oxide). It has an empirical formula of MgO and consists of a lattice of Mg2+ ions and O2− ions held together by ionic bonding. Magnesium hydroxide forms in the presence of water (MgO + H2O → Mg(OH)2), but it can be reversed by heating it to remove moisture.

Magnesium oxide is a white powder, odorless and tasteless, insoluble in water and ethanol,with a melting point of 2852 degrees, and high fire-resistant insulation properties. It is an alkaline oxide and has the same properties as alkaline oxides. When exposed to the air, it easily absorbs moisture and carbon dioxide, and dissolves in acids and ammonium salts. Slowly react with water to generate magnesium hydroxide.

1. Ammonium hydroxide Usage

Analysis reagent, neutralizer, alkaloid leaching agent. It is used for the verification and determination of certain elements (such as copper and nickel). Used to precipitate various element hydroxides. Preparation of ammonium compounds, detergent, colorimetric determination.

Used as agricultural fertilizer. In the chemical industry, it is used to produce various ammonium salts, aminating agents for organic synthesis, and a catalyst for the production of thermosetting phenolic resins. In the textile industry, it is used in wool spinning, silk, printing and dyeing industries, for washing wool, woolen cloth, grey cloth, oil stains, dyeing aids, and pH adjustment. It is also used in the alkalization of pharmacy, tannery, thermos flask (prepared with silver plating solution), rubber and grease.

Water treatment

Ammonia is used to produce monochloramine, which is used as a disinfectant. Chloramine is preferred over chlorination for its ability to remain active in stagnant water pipes longer, reducing the risk of waterborne infections.

Ammonia is used by aquarists for the purposes of setting up a new fish tank using an ammonia process called fishless cycling. This application requires that the ammonia contain no additives.

Household cleaner

Diluted (1–3%) ammonia is also an ingredient of numerous cleaning agents, including many window cleaning formulas. Because aqueous ammonia is a gas dissolved in water, as the water evaporates from a window, the gas evaporates also, leaving the window streak-free.

In addition to use as an ingredient in cleansers with other cleansing ingredients, ammonia in water is also sold as a cleaning agent by itself, usually labeled as simply "ammonia". Sanitation

Calcium hypochlorite is commonly used to sanitize public swimming pools and disinfect drinking water. Generally the commercial substances are sold with a purity of 65% to 73% with other chemicals present, such as calcium chloride and calcium carbonate, resulting from the manufacturing process. As a swimming pool chemical, it is blended with other chemicals less often than other forms of chlorine, due to dangerous reactions with some common pool chemicals. In solution, calcium hypochlorite could be used as a general purpose sanitizer, but due to calcium residue, sodium hypochlorite (bleach) is usually preferred.

Application and Uses :

Calcium h ypochlorite can be widely used as algicide, bactericide disinfectant, bleaching agent or oxidant because of the available chlorin e in the product.
