Barium sulfate or sulphate is the inorganic compound with the chemical formula BaSO4. It is a white crystalline solid that is odorless and insoluble in water. It occurs as the mineral barite, which is the main commercial source of barium and materials prepared from it. The white opaque appearance and its high density are exploited in its main applications.
This product is made of only the high purity, natural barium sulfate ore. A strictly controlled manufacturing process results in consistent quality products that are used in coatings, printing, paint, plastics, rubber, friction materials, and many other applications where color, purity, and particle size are principal concerns.
Barium sulfate is used as a filler for coating, paint, rubber, plastic, thermosetting plastic powder, paper brightener, textile, etc. And it is used as a filler in glass production. It has the effect of increasing the glossiness of glass.
Application
Pigment
The majority of synthetic barium sulfate is used as a component of white pigment for paints. In oil paint, barium sulfate is almost transparent, and is used as a filler or to modify consistency.
Plastics filler
Barium sulfate is commonly used as a filler for plastics to increase the density of the polymer in vibrational mass damping applications.
Niche uses
Barium sulfate is used in soil testing. Tests for soil pH and other qualities of soil use colored indicators, and small particles (usually clay) from the soil can cloud the test mixture and make it hard to see the color of the indicator.
Copper industry
As barium sulfate has a high burning point and is insoluble in water, it is used as a coating material in the casting copper anode plates. The anode plates are cast in copper molds, so to avoid the contact of the liquid copper and the solid copper mold, a solution of barium sulfate in water is used as a coating material on the mold surface. Thus when the liquid copper solidifies in form of an anode plate it can be easily released from its mold.
Application:
It is widely used as a filler to reduce production costs and improve product features accordingly.
Rubber Industry - Tire and rubber, insulation rubber, rubber plate, adhesive tape, engineering plastics can enhance the product's anti-aging performance and climate resistance, the product is not easy to aging embrittlement, and can significantly improve the surface finish, reduce the production cost, as the main filler for powder coating is the primary means of regulating the powder bulk density increased rate of the powder.

Canada Chemicals is one of the leading Benzoic acid Exporters, Manufacturers, Suppliers, and Producers in Vancouver, Montreal, Ontario, Toronto, Hamilton, Ottawa Canada. We are supplied to various industrial markets including Household, Institutional Cleaning, Personal Care, and Industrial sectors including Oil fields, chemical, Animal feed additive, Food additive, Agrochemical, Fertilizer, pharmaceuticals, water treatment, Minerals, Lubricants, Marine Industry, Metal Working chemical industry, and Coatings markets.
Benzoic acid is a colorless crystalline solid and a simple aromatic carboxylic acid. The name is derived from gum benzoin, which was for a long time its only known source. Benzoic acid occurs naturally in many plants and serves as an intermediate in the biosynthesis of many secondary metabolites. Salts of benzoic acid are used as food preservatives and benzoic acid is an important precursor for the industrial synthesis of many other organic substances.
Benzoic acid is a mono-functional, aromatic acid, which is widely used as a building block for the synthesis of alkyd resins. It is also used as a preservative in many industrial applications, such as antimicrobial agents of latex, toothpaste, jam, dyeing and printing mordant, pharmaceutical and dye intermediates for preparing plasticizer, spices, and the like, rust inhibitor of steel equipment, and so on.
uses
Medicinal
As the principal component of gum benzoin, benzoic acid is also a major ingredient in both tinctures of benzoin and Friar’s balsam.
Benzoyl chloride
Benzoic acid is a precursor to benzoyl chloride, C6H5C(O)Cl by treatment with thionyl chloride, phosgene, or one of the chlorides of phosphorus. Benzoyl chloride is an important starting material for several benzoic acid derivates like benzyl benzoate, which is used in artificial flavors and insect repellents.
Precursor to plasticizers
Benzoate plasticizers, such as the glycol-, diethylene glycol-, and tri ethylene glycol esters, are obtained by transesterification of methyl benzoate with the corresponding diol. Alternatively, these species arise by treatment of benzoyl chloride with the diol. These plasticizers are used similarly to those derived from a terephthalic acid ester.
Benzoic acid use
[1] used as antiseptic and anti microorganism in medical and food industries;
[2] it is used as a plasticizer in organic chemical industries.
[3] Mainly used as a food preservative,1g/kg is used in soy sauce, vinegar, fruit juice, jam, fruit syrup, can; 0.8g/kg used in grape wine, fruit wine, and soft agarose; 0.4g/kg used in fruit soda water; 0.5g/kg used in low-salt paste, flour paste, candied fruit, haw jelly cake, and fruit syrup; 2g/kg used in condensed fruit juice.
Benzoic acid Application:
1. Commonly used as a food preservative.
2. Raw material in the production of pesticide, dye, medicine, perfume, mordant, plasticizer.
3. Modifying agent for polyamide resin and alkyd resins.
4. Rust inhibitor of steel equipment and so on.
Benzoic acid and sodium benzoate have the effect of sterilizing and inhibiting the growth of bacteria and are low in toxicity and tasteless, so they are widely used as preservatives. In slightly acidic media, only a 0.1% concentration of benzoic acid can inhibit bacterial growth. Changing the pH value has a great influence on the bactericidal and antibacterial effects of benzoate, and its effect is significantly reduced in a reduced medium, and the effect is best when the pH value is between 2.5 and 4.5.
In the food industry, benzoic acid and sodium benzoate can be used as preservatives for soy sauce, kimchi, cider, fruit juice, and feed. In medicine, cosmetics, toothpaste, powder, tobacco, etc., benzene acid and sodium benzoate are also used as preservatives. Sodium benzoate has a greater solubility in water and is usually used more, but its pH value is higher, and its bactericidal and antibacterial ability is much weaker than that of benzoic acid.

It is used as an alkaline shrink mixture and catalyst in organic synthesis, which is used for the synthesis of spices and dyes and is the raw material of vitamin B1, A, and sulfadiazine.
As raw materials for medicine and pesticide, it is an important raw material for the synthesis of drugs such as sulfathimine, new normal, and sulfonamide.
It is also used as a catalyst for the treatment of fats and oils, especially in the treatment of lard, to alter the fat structure and make it suitable for artificial butter, which must be removed in the final food. It is mainly used as an A reagent, A strong alkaline catalyst, and A methoxylation agent, which can be used for the production of vitamins B1 and A, sulfadiazine, and A small amount for pesticide production.
It is also used as an analytical reagent widely used in spices, dyes, and other industries.

Copper hydroxide is the hydroxide of copper with the chemical formula of Cu(OH)2. It is a pale greenish-blue or bluish-green solid. Some forms of copper hydroxide are sold as “stabilized” copper hydroxide, although they likely consist of a mixture of copper carbonate and hydroxide. Copper hydroxide is a weak base.
Uses
Copper hydroxide in ammonia solution, known as Schweizer’s reagent, possesses the interesting ability to dissolve cellulose. This property led to it being used in the production of rayon, a cellulose fiber.
Copper hydroxide has been combined with latex paint, making a product designed to control root growth in potted plants. Secondary and lateral roots thrive and expand, resulting in a dense and healthy root system.
Copper Hydroxide is blue flocculent precipitation with a density of 3.37, a melting point of 80ºC, the dry powder presents blue powder or crystal, insoluble in water, decomposition by heat, slightly amphoteric, soluble in acid, ammonia, and sodium cyanide, soluble in alkaline glycerol solution, heated to 60-80ºC dark, high-temperature decomposition into black copper oxide and water.
Copper Hydroxide is used as mordant, catalyst, fungicide, and pigment, and used for dyeing paper, used as an analytical reagent, mordant; Copper salt raw material, mordant, rayon, pigment, coloring paper, used as a fungicide, ship bottom antifouling paint components.
Store at a ventilating and dry place, preventing rain.
It is also used widely in the aquarium industry for its ability to destroy external parasites in fish, including flukes, marine ich, brook, and marine velvet, without killing the fish. Although other water-soluble copper compounds can be effective in this role, they generally result in high fish mortality.
