Tin(IV) chloride also known as stannic chloride or tin tetrachloride,SnCl4, a colorless, volatile, and fuming liquid with a sharp, pungent odor. It is a strong Lewis acid primarily used as a catalyst, in the production of organotin compounds, as a polymer stabilizer, and for surface treatments, such as coating container glass.
