Crystal violet or gentian violet (also known as methyl violet 10B or hexamethyl pararosaniline chloride) is a triarylmethane dye used as a histological stain and in Gram's method of classifying bacteria. Crystal violet has antibacterial, antifungal, and anthelmintic properties and was formerly important as a topical antiseptic. The medical use of the dye has been largely superseded by more modern drugs, although it is still listed by the World Health Organization.
The name gentian violet was originally used for a mixture of methyl pararosaniline dyes (methyl violet), but is now often considered a synonym for crystal violet. The name refers to its colour, being like that of the petals of certain gentian flowers; it is not made from gentians or violets.


Product Application:

  • Crystal violet is not only used as a textile dye, but also it is used to dye paper and as a component of navy blue and black inks for printing, ball-point pens, and inkjet printers. It is also used to colourize diverse products such as fertilizers, antifreezes, detergents, and leather.
  • The dye is also used as a histological stain, particularly in Gram staining for classifying bacteria.
  • Gentian violet has antibacterial, antifungal, antihelminthic, antitrypanosomal, antiangiogenic, and antitumor properties.
  • It is used medically for these properties, in particular for dentistry, and is also known as "pyoctanin" (or "pyoctanine").It is commonly used for:
  • Marking the skin for surgery preparation and allergy testing;
  • Treating Candida albicans and related fungal infections, such as thrush, yeast infections, various types of tinea
  • Treating impetigo; it was used primarily before the advent of antibiotics, but still useful to persons who may be allergic to penicillin.

Hydrochloric acid is the aqueous solution of hydrogen chloride gas (HCl). It is a strong acid, and the major component of gastric acid. It is also widely used in industry. Hydrochloric acid must be handled with appropriate safety precautions because it is a highly corrosive solution.


Product Application:
Hydrochloric acid is a strong inorganic acid that is used in many industrial processes. The application often determines the required product quality.
Regeneration of ion exchangers: An important application of high-quality hydrochloric acid is the regeneration of ion exchange resins. Cation exchange is widely used to remove ions such as Na+ and Ca2+ from aqueous solutions, producing demineralized water.
Na+ is replaced by H3O+
Ca2+ is replaced by 2 H3O+
Ion exchangers and demineralized water are used in all chemical industries, drinking water production, and many food industries.

PH Control and neutralization: A very common application of Hydrochloric acid is to regulate the basicity (pH) of solutions.
OH- + HCl H2O + Cl-
In industry demanding purity (food, pharmaceutical, drinking water), high-quality Muriatic acid is used to control the pH of process water streams. In less-demanding industry, technical-quality hydrochloric acid suffices for neutralizing waste streams and swimming pool treatment.

Pickling of steel: Pickling is an essential step in metal surface treatment, to remove rust or iron oxide scale from iron or steel before subsequent processing, such as extrusion, rolling, galvanizing, and other techniques. Technical-quality HCl at typically 18% concentration is the most commonly-used pickling agent for the pickling of carbon steel grades.

The spent acid has long been re-used as ferrous chloride solutions, but high heavy-metal levels in the pickling liquor has decreased this practice.

In recent years, the steel pickling industry has, however, developed hydrochloric acid regeneration processes, such as the spray roaster or the fluidized bed HCl regeneration process, which allow the recovery of HCl from spent pickling liquor. The most common regeneration process is the pyrohydrolysis process, applying the following formula:

4 FeCl2 + 4 H2O + O2 8 HCl+ 2 Fe2O3

By recuperation of the spent acid, a closed acid loop is established. The ferric oxide by product of the regeneration process is a valuable by-product, used in a variety of secondary industries.
Hydrochloric Acid is not a common pickling agent for stainless steel grades.

Production of inorganic compounds: Numerous products can be produced with hydrochloric acid in normal acid-base reactions, resulting in inorganic compounds. These include water treatment chemicals such as iron(III) chloride and polyaluminium chloride (PAC).

Both iron(III) chloride and PAC are used as flocculation and coagulation agents in wastewater treatment, drinking water production, and paper production.
Other inorganic compounds produced with hydrochloric acid include road application salt calcium chloride, nickel(II) chloride for electroplating, and zinc chloride for the galvanizing industry and battery production.

Production of organic compounds: The largest Hydrochloric acid consumption is in the production of organic compounds such as vinyl chloride for PVC, and MDI and TDI for polyurethane. This is often captive use, consuming locally-produced Muriatic acid that never actually reaches the open market. Other organic compounds produced with Muriatic acid include bisphenol A for polycarbonate, activated carbon, and ascorbic acid, as well as numerous pharmaceutical products.

Domestic and Industrial as cleaning Compound : Hydrochloric acid is a fundamental chemical, and as such it is used for a large number of small-scale applications, such as leather processing, household cleaning, and building construction. In addition, a way of stimulating oil production is by injecting Hydrochloric acid into the rock formation of an oil well, dissolving a portion of the rock, and creating a large-pore structure. Oil-well acidizing is a common process in the North Sea oil production industry.
Many chemical reactions involving Hydrochloric acid are applied in the production of food, food ingredients, and food additives. Typical products include aspartame, fructose, citric acid, lysine, hydrolyzed (vegetable) protein as food enhancer, and in gelatin production. Food-grade (extra-pure) Muriatic acid can be applied when needed for the final product.

Hydrochloric acid in high concentrations forms acidic mists. Both the mist and the solution have a corrosive effect on human tissue, with the potential to damage respiratory organs, eyes, skin, and intestines. Upon mixing Muriatic acid with common oxidizing chemicals, such as bleach (NaClO) or permanganate (KMnO4), the toxic gas chlorine is produced. To minimize the risks while working with hydrochloric acid, appropriate precautions should be taken, including wearing rubber or PVC gloves, protective eye goggles, and chemical-resistant clothing.

 RO antiscant
Scaling is caused in membranes because the level of hardness salts in the water becomes highly concentrated as it passes through the RO unit. In smaller units scale formation can be prevented by base exchange softening the make-up water but for larger systems that is very expensive. We have developed a range of easy to handle, cost effective RO Antiscalant which increase the solubility of the hardness salts so they remain in solution rather than forming scale on the membrane. Our cost effective RO antiscalants will inhibit a wide range of foulants including: calcium carbonate, calcium sulphate, barium sulphate, strontium sulphate, calcium fluoride, silica and iron.
RO Antiscalants are dosed directly to the RO feed water tank or feed water line (after pretreatment) at the recommended dosage of 1-3 mg/L and maximum dosage at 8mg/L, subject to inlet water quality and parameters is respect of Calcium Hardness, Iron, TDS, Alkalinity, pH and silica content. Maximum dilution should be 10% with RO or DI water for temperature less than 30 deg C. For higher temperature the dilution ratio can increase.


Product Application:
Antiscalant C.I ALKA is a special formulated Product by  liquid silicate and inorganic polyphosphates can Food that is used in the treatment of fresh  hot and cold water, for protect the corrosion and scale deposit in Pipe line and Equipment. This significantly reduces the corrosion which caused by aggressive water and promotes the formation of a protective film. Prevents the precipitation of calcium and magnesium in water.

Using Procedure:
For natural waters ‘normally mineralized’ (up to 500 mS / cm). Recommended starting dose of 40 g / m, after the formation of protective film is sufficient.
A maintenance dose of 20 g / m³.
With salt water is very necessary to increase the dose above which can reach, in the case brackish water, even up to 200 g / cm.

Product Application:
During the operation of a membrane separation system, organic materials and suspended solids in the incoming water can accumulate on the membrane surface. Fouling from these species impedes the flow of water through and across the membrane.This can result in unacceptably low production,high operating pressure, or an excessivepressure drop in the system. Additionally, dissolved solids in the incoming water can concentrate up to a level where they begin to precipitate on the membrane surface. Scaling from hardness and metal salts, found in most unsoftened water, impedes the flow of water through the membrane. The accumulation of scale next to the membrane surface can increase the amount of dissolved material passing through the membrane, resulting in product water of unacceptable quality. Before the particulate fouling and scale accumulate to a level where product water flow or quality declines, or membrane damage is imminent, removal using offline cleaning is required. Indications of the need for cleaning include a significant decrease in normalized permeate flow, a significant increase in pressure drop across the system (or individual stage), or an increase in the normalized salt passage, such that product quality is unacceptable. ORG Clean MC 103 (Membrane Cleaner) is a low pH, liquid formulation designed specifically to remove metal hydroxides, calcium carbonate, and other similiar scales from Reverse osmosis (RO), nanofiltration (NF), microfiltration (MF) and ultrafiltration (UF) membranes. This highly effective product provides superior cleaning resulting in longer system running time.
Acidic powerfull cleaner, non-foaming (pH1.6).

Using Procedure:
TYPICAL APPLICATIONS

Before the scale accumulates to a level where product water declines, or membrane damage can occur, it should be removed through clean-in-place (CIP), off-line cleaning. Indications of the need for cleaning include a significant decrease in normalized permeate flow, a significant increase in pressure drop across the system (or individual stage), or an increase in the normalized salt passage, so that product quality is unacceptable.
ORG Clean MC 103 (Membrane Cleaner)  contains a blend of solubilizing and complexing agents designed to specifically remove calcium carbonate and metal hydroxide-based scales from the surfaces of a membrane. Used in tandem with an alkaline cleaner for organics and particulate removal, regular cleanings with ORG Clean MC 103 (Membrane Cleaner) helps to preserve the life of your membranes. Depending on the nature of the fouling, a soak period may be necessary for optimum results.

GENERAL CLEANING INSTRUCTIONS
The following general cleaning procedure can be followed. 
Inspect cleaning tank, hoses, and cartridge filters.Clean tank and flush hoses if necessary. Install new cartridge filters.
Fill cleaning tank with RO permeate or DI water. Turn on agitator or tank recirculation pump.
Slowly add ORG Clean MC 103 (Membrane Cleaner)  to cleaning tank (1 gal [3.8 L] of product for every 50 gal [189 L] of water) and allow to mix thoroughly.
Check solution temperature. If solution temperature is lower than recommended level, adjust heating control to provide optimum temperature. If manufacturer%u2019s recommendation is not available, contact your RX MARINE representative.
Check solution pH. The solution pH should be 2.5-3.5 or as recommended by the membrane manufacturer. If pH is too low, adjust pH upwards with NaOH, or other chemical as recommended by the membrane manufacturer. If pH is too high, adjust with hydrochloric acid.
Circulate solution through one stage at a time in the direction of feed flow for 30 minutes. Circulate at the flow rate recommended by the
membrane or system manufacturer. If manufacturer%u2019s recommendation is not available, contact your BetzDearborn representative. Pressure
should be low enough so that no permeate is produced during cleaning, but always less than 60 psig (4.2 kg/cm2). In cases of heavy fouling, the first return flow (up to 15% of the cleaning tank volume) should be diverted to drain to prevent redeposition of removed solids. For optimum results, each stage must be cleaned separately in a multistage system.
If the first stage cleaning solution becomes turbid or discolored, dump the tank and prepare a fresh cleaning solution before proceeding. If solution pH or temperature moves out of the recommended range, a new solution should be prepared. In any event, a new cleaning solution should be prepared for each stage.
Rinse with RO permeate at 20°C (68°F) minimum before returning system to service.
When returning unit to service, divert product water to drain until any residual cleaning solution has been rinsed from system.

Auramine is an aniline dye used as a disinfectant and an antiseptic agent. It is weakly fluorescing and binds specifically to certain proteins.


Product Application:
Auramine O has been used to study the cuticle/cutin in the epidermis of the pollen presenter in Vangueria infausta.Auramine O is used for the staining of acid-fast organisms, coccidia. Auramine O along with carbol generates brilliant yellow fluorochrome of tubercle bacilli. It is effective in detecting positive cases of tuberculosis. Auramine O binds to the mycolic acid in the bacterial cell wall.

Product Application:
Without some means of upstream scale inhibition, RO membranes and their flow passages will foul due to scale, the precipitation of sparingly soluble salts. Common examples of scale are calcium carbonate (CaCO3), calcium sulfate (CASO4), barium sulfate (BaSO4), and strontium sulfate (SrSO4). Less common but equally problematic are silica (SiO2) and calcium fluoride (CaF) scales.
Dissolved iron salts are stabilized through the sequestration mechanism, in addition, suspended sediments containing iron in the form of Fe (OH) 3, FePO4, FeCO3 will stabilize through the dispersion mechanism. A reagent having such a double action remains effective over a wide pH range 6.

Activated Alumina Desiccants : RXSOL-19-1905-025
Activated alumina is an excellent desiccant for drying a wide variety of liquids and gases. Our activated alumina has been developed with high attrition resistance and crush strength, It has larger water adsorption capacity comparing to molecular sieve at high relative humidity and providing long service life with performance at or below dew point specifications.
Activated alumina is highly porous material; this material can have a surface area significantly over 200 square metres/g. Very suitable for use as a filter of fluoride, arsenic and selenium in drinking water.
Activated Alumina is an aluminium oxide that is highly porous and exhibits tremendous surface area. Activated Alumina is resistant to thermal stock and abrasion and will not shrink, swell, soften nor disintegrate when immersed in water.
 Surface area is in the range 345-415. Because it has a higher capacity for water than Silica Gel at elevated temperatures it is mainly used as a desiccant for warm gases including air. In many commercial applications zeolitic materials have now replaced it.

  • Dew points to -40°F and lower may be achieved with Activated Alumina Desiccants  depending on dryer design and operating conditions.
  • The 1/8%u201D (2-5mm) bead is the size most frequently used in regenerative dryers.
  • The 3/16%u201D (4-8mm) bead is used when pressure drop and surface area requirements fall between 1/8%u201D and 1/4%u201D material.  It is suitable for most systems.
  • The 1/4%u201D (5-10mm) bead Activated Alumina Desiccants  is used both as a pre-bed material to support large desiccant beds or as a buffer for silica gel beads. Pressure drop is slightly lower than 1/8%u201D (25mm) material.
  • If size is not known or specified, the 1/8%u201D (2-5mm) size is usually satisfactory. However, if Activated Alumina Desiccants is used in a regenerative dryer and the desiccant retaining screens cannot be measured, the 1/4%u201D (5-10mm) size should be used as a bed support (6%u201D layer). If at all possible, obtain a sample and measure it  before ordering.


Product Benefits:

  • High adsorption capacity. With high surface area and excellent pore distribution, Activated Alumina Desiccants  has a high water adsorption capacity. This reduces initial cost, energy consumption and operating costs through smaller bed sizes and/or longer operating cycles.
  • Low abrasion. Insures less dusting during tower depressurization or loading. Low abrasion means low pressure drop and a reduced chance of plugging the afterfilter.
  • Resists liquid water. Water slugging due to upstream failure of aftercooler, separators or drain traps will not fracture the alumina beads. The adsorption capacity of the desiccant can be restored after complete regeneration.
  • High crush strength. High crush strength, which limits dusting, is important during loading of desiccant towers. High crush strength makes alumina effective as a prebed material when used with other types of desiccants.
  • Uniform bead sizes. Activated Alumina Desiccants is a uniformly sized bead. It provides low pressure drop to minimize channeling and ensures utilization of the full bed column section.
